Production of polyethylene-fiber requires a relatively small amount of energy. Although designed for strength and durability, polyethylene products are also suitable for recycling.

You might be surprised to find polypropylene and sustainability mentioned in the same sentence. However, with typical CO2 emissions of 1.95kg – 3.5kg per kg, polypropylene has less of a carbon footprint than that associated with other plastic varieties. As an example, three times the amount of emissions are generated in the production of polycarbonate.

Used in the manufacture of such products as knotless netting and splitfilm rope, polypropylene takes a relatively short amount of time to degrade. Recycling is also an option, with no toxic chemicals being released in the process.
